List of schools affected by RAAC concrete so far [Nov Updated]

This list is not exhaustive, and more schools may be affected. The government has not yet released a full list of schools affected by RAAC.

RAAC concrete is a type of concrete that is made with autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks. AAC blocks are made from a mixture of cement, water, sand, and aluminum powder. The aluminum powder reacts with the water to create air bubbles in the concrete, which makes it lightweight and strong.

However, RAAC concrete can deteriorate over time due to the aluminum powder reacting with the moisture in the air. This can cause the concrete to become weak and brittle, and it may eventually collapse.

As of November 17, 2023, there are a total of 174 schools in England with confirmed cases of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC). The list of affected schools has been updated several times since the issue was first identified in September 2023. The most recent update was on October 5, 2023, when 27 schools were added to the list.

The schools on this list have been affected by RAAC concrete in different ways. Some schools have had to close buildings or classrooms, while others have had to implement safety measures, such as installing steel supports. The government is working with the schools to assess the damage and make sure that they are safe for students to return to.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and more schools may be affected by RAAC in the future. The government is working to identify all schools that may be affected and to put mitigations in place to ensure the safety of pupils and staff.

This list is subject to change as more schools are surveyed and assessed.
